More than 500 years old Jain Idols found at Parshvoday Teerth (Behroj, Alwar)
On december 15th, 2013 two idols of Lord Parshvnath were found at Parshvoday Teerth, Behroj, Alwar, Rajasthan (Route to Parshovday Teerth (from Delhi, using google maps)
Around 8.15 am Muni Shri Pawan Sagar Ji
Maharaj (Jungle wale baba) started the pooja. The excavation started around
10.30 a.m. After digging for about 1.30 hrs (almost 6-7 feet deep) we
found two idols of Shri Parshvnath Bhagwan (dated 14th century). This was
one of the rarest moments for any Jain to be part of such an excavation
team.
This village (Behroj) is one
of the most backward areas of the society with no roads and sanitation.
This village has no temples, and not even a single Jain family lives in
this village. Most of the residents are either muslim or sikh (who came
here during the Indo-Paskistan partition days.) Local villagers happily
donated their land to us when they came to know about the old Jain
temples. Many villagers also joined us in this excavation work.
Some of the stories shared by the
local villagers (not checked or verified the authenticity of these
stories) are related to:
1. 15-20 feet huge black snake found roaming in the village
2. ground water is found at depth of around 300 feet in this
village while it is more than 1000 feet in the village just across the
road. As per the villagers, they are not able to take the water out of
this village (through bore-well or water-well).
There are five old temples (more than 500 years old) in this village for which all of us need to work together for the renovation. If you would like to contribute for this cause, feel free to contact me at rajeevjain72@gmail.com.
